As rising energy costs are on everyone's minds it's only natural that more homeowners are planning to make energy-efficient home improvements. One of the weakest points in a home is often the conservatory as the heat transference through glass and polycarbonate roofs is higher than with solid roofs. This heat transference is measured by U-values.
A lower roof U-value means less heat loss and gain transferring through the roof structure. A lower U-value reduces the need to use heating or cooling appliances in the room as temperature regulation is more efficient.
The prefabricated Guardian Warm Roof has been developed to achieve a new lower u-value of 0.15 W/m2k, while only increasing the roof structure thickness by 35mm. This change is verified by the BRE to be compliant with the Part L Building regulations that changed in June 2022. Overall a conservatory roof with lower U-values provides a winning solution for homeowners as they look for home improvements that will cut annual living costs amidst the rising energy price caps.
Maintaining a strong reputation, Guardian Building Systems produce the highest-quality systems and testing is an integral part of the development of each component involved.
The Building Research Establishment (BRE) is known nationally for its excellent independent testing practices, across the building industry. Director Ross Darcy says, “We instructed the BRE to analyse the heat loss for the Guardian Warm Roof as we knew they would give us an impartial report”. The BRE tested the heat loss in the Guardian Warm Roof with multiple configurations, and whether the roof is ventilated or unventilated. The final BRE reports (August 2022) confirm that Guardian Warm Roof configurations achieve a maximum U-value of 0.15 W/m2k. Additionally, the BRE condensation risk analysis in line with EN15026, confirms that moisture content in the Guardian Warm Roof does not increase year on year.

Choosing a conservatory roof replacement or conservatory rebuild is no quick feat, and as a big investment, also puts a greater responsibility on the part of the fabricators and installers. With the Guardian Warm Roof, homeowners are matched to fully trained Guardian Certified Installers nationwide by a dedicated customer service team. Homeowners can also verify installer credentials.
Taking the hassle out of dealing with building control, the Guardian Warm Roof was the first conservatory roof system to be approved by local authority partners. Today, under the new LABC structure, all certified Guardian Warm Roof installers can be registered on the LABC partner authority scheme to maintain building control compliance.
In addition to independent testing, and the Guardian Certified Installer network you don’t need to worry about the integrity of the Guardian Warm Roof with a Certificate of Authenticity for completed builds. Guardian Building Systems covers all bases ensuring that this system will perform as promised for your customers.
Continuing to set industry firsts with confirmed energy-efficient home improvements is what makes Guardian Building Systems an industry leader. With a Guardian Warm Roof, homeowners can make their homes more liveable with complete peace of mind.
